The rangers go to Japan to hunt down a legendary protector of Kyoto - a samurai alien warrior named Katana who was brought through a Time Portal by Emperor Gruumm from 160 years ago, to present day (2025). Broodwing is sent to make Katana believe that the rangers are invaders trying to takeover Kyoto, but Jack shows him the truth. Gruumm sends a Giant Robot to capture buildings in Kyoto forcing Cruger and Kat to bring the Delta Base to Kyoto Japan, leaving New Tech City completely defenseless. With the Delta Base in Kyoto, Gruumm sends Krybots to raid New Tech City's Iridium plant. Katana re-enters the Time Portal and as it closes, a mysterious orb of light comes out and begins following the rangers.
